The
Moon Series continues with the Full Flower Moon. Diana presents us her fullest moon this month
on Thursday, May 7th at 6:45 am.
“March
winds and April showers bring forth May flowers”- the proverb has special significance
as the full moon of May casts it’s light over the landscape of Merry Mount and
beyond. Our senses are heightened as we
hear the songs of birds and frogs, smell the fragrance of budding trees and
grasses, and see the splashes of color from emerging blooms.
Spring,
the sweet Spring, is the year's pleasant king;
Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring
Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
The palm and may make country houses gay
Lambs frisk and play, the shepherd pipes all day
And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet
Young lovers meet, old wives a-sunning sit
In every street these tunes our ears do greet
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
Spring! The sweet Spring!

"But
May, or her mirthful spirit, dwelt all the year round at Merry Mount, sporting
with the Summer months, and revelling with Autumn, and basking in the glow of
Winter's fireside. Through a world of toil and care she flitted with a
dreamlike smile, and came hither to find a home among the lightsome hearts of
Merry Mount."
